Tryouts

West Coast Extreme offers the most exciting, competitive, successful, and positive All-Star cheerleading experience on the West Coast! We believe that All-Star cheerleading gives kids another opportunity to gain advanced skills and learn life lessons in a team environment, while having FUN! We provide the environment, instruction, equipment, and motivation you need to be the best athlete you can be!

Registration for West Coast Extreme All-Star Cheerleading teams and classes may be made throughout the 2009-10 year. Space is limited on each team, and in each class, so you are encouraged to register as early as possible.

West Coast Extreme has a no-cut policy, however, 2009-10 teams will be age and skill based, therefore a brief tryout is necessary for placement on teams. (Except recreational classes)

We make the tryout/placement process as low-stress as possible. In the tryout, the athletes work side-by-side with other athletes in their age group. They will be given numerous chances to demonstrate skills that they are learning or already have mastered. We will also teach them a variety of elements, and a short, easy to learn, performance cheer that they will later show off for the staff individually or in small groups. We will give them plenty of opportunity to warm-up and practice the material. We want the athletes to be relaxed, so the entire process is much like a regular practice.

After our final date of tryouts, the staff will meet extensively to assemble the rosters for the upcoming season. The staff will work together to come up with the teams that each have the best possible chance of a successful competitive season. This means that each team will be ideally comprised of a variety of athletes with a variety of skills and abilities. After our meeting, we will list the results of the teams with the athletes on our gym voicemail. We anticipate having a similar number of teams and similar divisions as the past season, however, we cannot determine that until after tryouts are completed.
